Welcome
Welcome to the SF Editors wiki. This wiki was originally instantiated as the Best Editor Hugo Wiki. To quote that project, it was created to "keep track of what works (novels, magazines, anthologies, etc.) that science fiction editors are working on. It is intended to help people nominate and vote for the Best Editor Hugo as well as other awards (such as the World Fantasy special awards for professional and non-professional)."
This wiki includes editors who are active in the field as well as editors who are retired or no longer with us; editors who work for a particular publisher or imprint, and also those who work freelance or are between appointments. It may also include articles about the publications themselves, publishers, and other players in the field who work their own type of magic so that the process of editing produces these things that we read and cherish. Posting of biographical and historical information is encouraged. There is a list of science fiction editors on wikipedia that may serve as a well of ideas if you are looking for someone to add. The wiki is unfinished. It will always be unfinished; you are welcome to help create and re-create this living publication.
Note the emphasis is on the work that SF editors are doing. This site is not intended to collect gossip or serve in an way to demean, annoy, or otherwise get on the bad side of, those same editors. It is intended to facilitate recognition of their work in the field. Do not use it to stalk editors. In fact, just don't stalk editors at all. They don't like it, they don't deserve it, it's liable to get a sizable community of people considerably irked with you (some of whom play with swords and axes in their free time) and it absolutely will not get you published. Rather the opposite. Just in case that needed to be said.
Moving on.
Adding an SF Editor
To add an editor here, please start by searching for the editor by name in the search box to the left. Once you are sure a page does not exist, either click on the 'create this page' link in the search results (not found) page, or find another page where you'd like to add them and do so by putting double brackets around their name. Like this: Lou Anders. Then click through the new link and it will give you a form to create the page. Every page on this site is editable; simply click on the edit tab at the top of the page. Please be responsible in doing so and understand that content added may be edited by others after you.
Also, be sure to add each new SF Editor to the Editors Category by putting a defaultsort and a category at the bottom of their page with their respective last and first names put in the appropriate order to list them by last name. You can copy the code out of this Editor Template to start from. Or don't worry about it; other editors will be checking over pages added to the Wiki and adding such references as necessary.
And again, welcome!
